Services and Support

Overview of Services

You can take advantage of many valuable programs and services, designed to provide support and enrich your experience as a federal employee.  Some of the most popular offerings are described here.  Please note that not all services described are available at all locations.



 Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Treasury Departmental Offices (DO) is committed to helping you balance work and family life. The EAP is a free no-cost program that provides access to an international counseling network to help you and your immediate family members deal with personal issues and work related problems. All counseling is protected by strict federal confidentiality laws. Participation in EAP is completely voluntary.

Counseling services are prepared to help you deal with a multitude of issues including emotional, relationship, family, alcohol, drug, financial, or jobs concerns. All services are provided by Federal Occupational Health, a service unit within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the largest provider of occupational health services in the Federal Government.

 Child Care Programs

Child care service available to parents:

  • Regular child care for children ages 3 months to 5 years, through US Kids, a GSA-sponsored child care center. US Kids is located in the DC metro area. DO parents receive priority for registration, but there may be a waiting list. To learn more, please contact the center at 202-233-4623.

The Federal Occupational Health (FOH) Emergency Back-up Dependent Care provides care for infants, teens and elders. The Backup Care program provides ten (10) visits per each employee dependent per year. The program details are as follows:

  • Full Range of Backup Care Coverage.
  • Nationwide Coverage.
  • Affordable Co-Payments.
  • Centralized Access.

Additionally a Work Life benefit will be available to employees.

Work Life consultants find child care, elder care, and other resources, which meet the specific needs of the employee, including location, cost, and confirmed availability. Services include:

  • Child Care and Parenting
  • Adult Care and Aging
  • Academics and Financial Aid
  • Services for Children with Special Needs
  • Pregnancy and Adoption
  • Health and Wellness
  • Everyday Responsibilities
  • Professional Care Management (PCM)

 Transit Subsidy

The Public Transportation Incentive Program (PTIP) was established to encourage employees to use public transportation when commuting to and from work. As a DO employee, you may receive a monthly transit benefit based on your actual transit expenses, up to a monthly limit.

You must apply to participate in this program. Your immediate supervisor must approve and sign the application, which can be submitted at any time.

 Treasury Department Federal Cre​dit Union

The Treasury Department Federal Credit Union (TDFCU) is a full-service financial institution sponsored by the Department of the Treasury.  TDFCU is a consumer-oriented organization that seeks to improve the quality of life of its members by providing affordable financial products and services, such as:

  • Meet other criteria as specified on the TDFCU website

 On-Site Health and Fitness

  • The DO Health Unit is located in the Annex Building, room 1500. Services include preventive and first aid treatment, including physical exams, allergy shots, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol testing. To learn more, call 202-622-2990.
  • The Treasury Fitness Center with free weights, machines, and an exercise studio is located in the Main Treasury basement. The center is a free service for all DO employees.

 Charitable Contributions

​The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) was created by federal employees as an annual campaign for charities. It is the only authorized workplace charitable giving drive for employees in the federal workplace. It is the largest and most successful workplace fundraising model in the world.
To participate, you pledge the amount you wish to contribute and select the organizations who will receive your donations. Most employees participate through payroll donations.
